I can succeed here.

From California

to Pitt Business

with Torrey Trahanovsky

Instant commitment.

I attended Spirit Academy in California and took classes at a nearby community college, Irvine Valley College.

When it came to my undergraduate education, my professors and high school teachers encouraged me to pick a great school for Computer Science and Business. I ultimately chose the University of Pittsburgh.

When I visited the campus and saw the unique culture and urban atmosphere. I committed the night I visited Pitt and cancelled visits to two other universities. I remember thinking to myself “I can succeed here”.

I participated in the Sales Academy hosted by Pitt Business.

During my time at Pitt Business, I interned with 5 Hour Energy!

MY

PITT

JOURNEY

BEGINS.

Welcome to Pitt!

My freshman year I lived in the Service to Others Living Learning Community in Tower B. In Tower B, I completed over 120 hours of volunteer service along with my classmates and roommates.

Joining student organizations.

Over my time at Pitt, I joined several clubs including: FRESA, AMA, DECA, DIAL, WICS, CSC, Maker Space, SIB, LEAP, and BTA. I also started the Google Developer Student Club (DSC), where I was trained at Google’s Mountain View campus in California, and oversaw monthly workshops and challenges.

By joining these clubs, I was able to build a quality network of people who spent their free time developing their skill, like me!

I was lucky enough to visit Google’s Mountain View campus in California during my internship!

From The Classroom, To The City, To The World.

Seeing The World

During my time at Pitt, I completed two study abroad trips to Cyprus and Ireland. For me, Cyprus was to learn the culture, while Ireland was to network and learn. My trip to Cyprus allowed me to create my startup, Hydor, with the help of the Berg Center and Ray Jones.

Studying abroad made me realize I wanted to work internationally! So when Citibank Hong Kong recruited at Pitt, I leaped at the opportunity to be the first and only Pitt student to work for Citi APAC!

I couldn’t wait to be apart of Citibank Hong Kong.

My Internships

Business + Tech

I completed my first internship as a freshman with Ingram Micro as their Global IT Innovation Intern, working in their Global HQ in Irvine, California. While interning with them, I had the unique opportunity to develop recruitment and mentorship videos for executives in APAC, EMEA, MENA, and NAM. I still communicate with the executives there and got to see my program rollout in 7 countries!

My second summer internship was with Citibank Hong Kong in 2019. I worked directly under the CFO of Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS). My title was Summer Analyst TTS- Core Cash – Cards & Innovation.

I also worked as an on-campus intern for 5-Hour ENERGY and as a contractor for Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Xfinity. Working with Microsoft and Google allowed me to travel and grow with the companies.

Pitt offered so many outside of the classroom experiences that helped me shape education.

Starting My Career

My Future is at Microsoft

I’m graduating from Pitt with a degree in Supply Chain Management.  Upon graduation, I’ll be joining Microsoft Seattle as a Technical Program Manager in the Core OS and Intelligent Edge (COSINE) team, under Cloud and AI! I’ll be choosing my specific team later this summer, and working between the Xbox, Hololens, and Azure systems. I hope to utilize this role to make my way back out to Asia!
